Rising Again

Posted in remember this moment on November 9, 2009 by supahnova

It’s been awhile, and it’s good to be back. The past year was rather interesting. To sum in up in one post won’t do it justice. So i think i will just randomly post about certain events, happenings and updates depending on how it relates to what i have in mind at the time i decide to type something here. I would just like to say though, that over the year, i do not know exactly what brought it, but i am going to be more careful with my words. I used to always say that all of it is about opinions and personal viewpoints, but this time, i will make sure that my opinions, my constitutional right to express myself, will not in any way violate that of any other persons. That is whether i actually like that person or not. I do not hate anybody at the moment, hate is such a poison. But there are those who credibility, sanity and intellect are somewhat questionable, and therefore offends my sensibilities. Hahaha! Man, i do not want to start dwelling on that just yet.

I would like to start this comeback (naks, parang artista lang) with a very nice piece on words, by poet and novelist Ben Okri. ;-)

It sometimes seems to me that our days are poisoned with too many words. Words said and not meant. Words said and meant. Words divorced from feeling. Wounding words. Words that conceal. Words that reduce. Dead words.

If only words were a kind of fluid that collects in the ears, if only they turned into the visible chemical equivalent of their true value, an acid, or something curative – then we might be more careful. Words do collect in us anyway. They collect in the blood, in the soul, and either transform or poison people’s lives. Bitter or thoughtless words poured into the ears of the young have blighted many lives in advance. We all know people whose unhappy lives twist on a set of words uttered to them on a certain unforgotten day at school, in childhood, or at university.

We seem to think that words aren’t things. A bump on the head may pass away, but a cutting remark grows with the mind. But then it is possible that we know all too well the awesome power of words – which is why we use them with such deadly and accurate cruelty.

We are all wounded inside in some way or other. We all carry unhappiness within us for some reason or other. Which is why we need a little gentleness and healing from one another. Healing in words, and healing beyond words. Like gestures. Warm gestures. Like friendship, which will always be a mystery. Like a smile, which someone described as the shortest distance between two people.”

this song makes me wanna melt… even until now when i have already gone past just talking to him. How it brings back memories…

There you are again
I see you all the time
We haven’t really met yet,
But you know, I don’t mind
‘Cuz I think today’s the day
I’m gonna go right up and say to you
Would it be alright
If I called you up sometime?

There you go again
I let you get away
At least I’ve got more time
To think of what I might say (like)
“Couldn’t we be good” (or maybe)
“Don’t you think that we should find
Some quiet little place where we’d make love all day?”

Come and talk to me
What are you waiting for
‘Cuz I can see you passing every day and I’m always wanting more
Come and talk to me
What are you gonna do
‘Cuz I can’t seem to get the nerve to get off my own ass
And come and talk to you

You know I love the type
You look like you’ve been up all night
And yet somehow still look beautiful
You do it all at the same time
Whenever you walk by
You always look me in the eyes
And in that moment I know
the same thing’s on your mind

It always seems to be that I let the good things pass by
Because I let my fear stop me (but not this time)

It’s Long Overdue, THE Update.

Posted in what's going on on July 29, 2008 by supahnova

It’s been ages since I visited this blog, and eons ago since I updated. What’s up?

-         I have become too discriminative with the music I listen to, especially lyrics wise. I find a lot of the English songs quite, corny, mediocre that I do not listen to radio anymore. It used to be that I tune in to certain stations because of the music, and I hate the talk. Now I appreciate the talk more than the music…well, save for those dj’s who cant really talk with sense. Heck, they can’t even complete a coherent English sentence without faltering or sounding like they flunked grammar way back in grade school! Sheesh.

-         I love anything Japanese now, more than I ever did before. The live action versions of popular mangas, the mangos, the food, fashion and the uber kewl language. I dream of going to Japan sometime in the future and visiting the Akihabara district.

-         I do not know anymore what the inside of a cinema looks like; it seems like a lifetime ago since I watched a film. Those anticipated flicks have lost its magic, for some reason. I don’t know.

-         My hair, it’s the most radical haircut I ever got since… I can’t remember. Haha! Punk anime. I look like a boy. The mornings are the worst, they’re standing up on ends and I look like one of those super saiyans in Dragonball Z. ack!

-         I actually like one local TV series…the Filipinized Kim Sam Soon. It’s effing funny, mainly because it has a great cast, very talented actors and actresses, and a funny script. Here is a video of one of my favorite scenes so far. LOL

-         I am currently dealing with, hanging out with people who have been trying my patience and offending my sensibilities lately. Ah, but that’s another story in another post. Which I hope I will have the time to do, soon.

That’s it for now. Busy day ahead. I just want to tell whoever reads this blog that I am still alive ;-)

Loving Coffee Prince

Posted in the neighborhood on January 17, 2008 by supahnova

The past weeks/months or so that I was on hiatus was spent resting, eating, recovering from stress and the various seasonal diseases that hit me, and basically vegetating. I bought dvd copy of the hit Korean series Coffee Prince, simply because the blurb was interesting. I didn’t know anything about it prior to buying it so I didn’t have expectations. Imagine my surprise when, minutes into the first episode I found myself getting so hooked I ate my meals in front of the TV.

I am a fan of Korean films but not of the TV series. I had this impression they’re either OA or too melodramatic. I have seen dvd’s of series but never finished any, because I either got bored or bummed out with the dragging story or the nosebleed inducing subtitles. But the copy I got had subtitles made by fans of the series so they’re quite good and not a single neuron complained.

And Coffee Prince is the only series that got me hooked, and had me staring only at the TV screen till the end. It’s just awesome. Why? How? Here’s just some of the things I love about it:

1. Eun Hye, who did a great job as the androgynous Eun Chan, who worked several jobs a day to suport her family. She was both hilarious and endearing and in my opinion, this is Eun Hye at her best since she started her acting career.

2. Gong Yoo who did a fantastic job as the grouchy rich playboy vagabond an Kyul who mistook Eun Chan for a man and eventually hires him to pose as his gay lover to ward off women who are all out to get him to commit.

3. The story, which maybe a bit strange but thoroughly interesting. And hilarious.

4. The script – the dialogues are just superb. There are lots of memorable lines and quotable quotes especially from Han Kyul.

5. The set – from the café to Han Kyul’s top floor crib.

6. Han Kyul’s car, a black Mini Cooper. I’m never a fan of convertibles but this one is just a cutie ;-)

7. The interesting characters surrounding EC and HK – from their respective families to the café crew.

8. The part when EC was posing as HK’s boyfriend was just funny!

9. Eun Chan’s voracious appetite, and table manners.

10. Han Kyul’s temper, it’s like he’s having PMS whenever EC is around.

11. EC and HK’s constant bickering. Their exchanges are just hilarious.

12. Scenes where sparks are beginning to fly and HK is struggling with his “homosexuality”. His reactions are just funny!

13. The kissing scenes. Gong Yoo is a hot kisser. ;-)

14. The chemistry between Eun Hye and Gong Yoo. The tension is so thick you could slice through it.

15. The music. The music is that good this series made me an sinatnt fan of Eun Hye and Korean pop.

I have seen the series twice on dvd and even caught the dubbed (Filipino) version being aired on GMA-7. Thank god the translations and dubbing was good. But of course they had to edit out scenes. So thank God I have my copy.

This is one pirated dvd purchase I never regretted. I think I will get another copy just in case the one I have now gets worn out. ;-)

Unbelievable

JK Rowling is worth ₤1 BILLION!

http://www.forbes.com/lists/2007/10/07billionaires_Joanne-(JK)-Rowling_CRTT.html

My gulay golly gaw-gaw! One billion times the “insert present british pound exchange rate here” equals, more or less 89 billion pesosesoses! Woot! “whistles! (Yes, this suddenly made me whistle and i so cannot whistle!)” This makes me want to really haul my butt off my (toxic) work chair and board the LRT 2 at 5:30 in the morning, laptop, two extra batteries, one pad of yellow paper and 20 ball pens in tow and squeeze out every story idea storied in my creative vault and just write/type away a seven part series that will make me possibly 89 billion pesosesoses richer.

Holy macaroni, i cannot begin to even imagine what i will do with all that moolah!

1.i will help pay national debt.
2.I will buy a subway system for the Philippines.
3.I will put up shelters and livelihood skills training center for beggars, street kids and just about any person whose average annual income is below 5,000.
4.i will clean up Metro Manila’s garbage.
5.I will bribe our stupid, fugly, incompetent governor to step down so that my beloved province can regain its glorious rep.
6.I will help Wish Ko Lang and grant ten more wishes each week.
7.I will buy shares from San Miguel, PLDT, GMA-7, Jollibee and Petron.
8.I will pit up my own production outfit that will make good quality music videos and films.
9.I will open a bank account in Switzerland and Cayman Islands.
10.I will build a modest (big enough to accommodate me and my family, some guests. Nothing too ostentatious) house each in my home province and some exclusive village in QC; a log cabin in Baguio, a rest house in Subic or Bolinao, Pangasinan and Dumaguete..
11.I will build an aprtment building for peoepl who live under the bridge, or in carts. And train them and give them jobs.
12.I will buy myself the latest Audi, a Harley motorbike and a jet ski.
13. I will never fly economy again! Woo hoo! Travel, travel, travel!
14. I will help send a thousand kids to school.
15. I will buy an extension shelter for the Philippine Animal Welfare Society.
16.I will get myself a personal masseuse.
17.I will give my mom and dad a really nice, state of the art kitchen because they love to cook.
18. I will buy all the gadgets i want!
19. I will sponsor someone really really good and deserving who wants to run for President, and make sure he/she wins. Hehehe ;-)
20. I will bribe the President to declare Martial Law and punish any public official who is not doing his/her job, sponsors rallies/protests, has way too much media exposure, maltreats his/her staff, and is frequently late or absent from work.
21.I will make sure that the President’s loyalty and trust is with me 1000 percent.
22. I will buy…uh, world peace?
23. “So help me God.”
