effortless means practically lazy

In this day and age, where trends come and go, and what is called fashionable is simply a reinvention or a resurrection of an old fad, it is quite tricky to know, as someone who, despite wanting to stand out without looking like she’s in a uniform of the moment, still wants to make sure what she’s wearing looks and feels right. That’s a long sentence and I’m not sure if I made any sense. Anyhow, I simply am thankful that despite fashion magazines, music videos and celebrities seeming to dictate what is fashionable, most of us still has access to items that can, in a matter of seconds and just enough creativity, can make us look like we’re walking straight out of an uber stylish photo shoot without busting our budgets. Ladies, what follows is a list of times which I have found to eb truly helpful in saving yourself from looking drab despite waking up from a bad dream on the wrong side of the bed with bad hair and the mother of all hangovers. Dun dun duunn…

  1. metallic flat sandals – as in matte metallic, not the super shiny mirror like ones, okay? Whether its gold, silver or pewter, a pair of these can easily brighten up any outfit. Very versatile too, as it looks great with skinny staight cut jeans, shorts, skirts and little dresses.

  1. skinny straight cut jeans – the darker, the better. It looks classy and can go from day to night. Cripes, I sound like a fashion mag. ;p

  1. furry scrunchie – aside from saving you from bad hair days, it also serves as a quirky accessory, doubling as a bangle.

  1. black leggings – must have for the moment. Wear it under mini skirts, or dresses, easily saves you time when you’re too lazy to shave! Hahaha! Really, you don’t have to shell load of moolah to update your wardrobe.

  1. ballet flats – pick those black beaded ones from Celine or Auztralian. They go with anything.

  1. wide black belt – which you can use to accessorize your dress or shirt, and give syou instant hourglass figure when you’re feeling bloated.

   7.  black dress shirt with funky metallic prints – instant rocker chic appeal.

Those, and lots of imagination and good color coordination, and oh, lots of confidence. Cos what really makes a person look fashionably great is seeing that she’s simply being herself and so darn confident about it too!

preparing myself for the “what if”

a couple of weeks ago i excitedly blogged about this concept for a reality series that i came up with, and over the past fifteen days or so my mind couldn’t rest. for each time my head isn’t occupied by anything work related, it does wander and parties off to places i never thought it could reach. and it brings home ideas i never thought i could possibly come up with. i am bursting – with excitedment. i am giddy each time i think how it could all be possible. i get tingles imagining how it will look like, and especially if it will star those very peopel i wanted to be in it.as far as my imagination is concerned, the series is ongoing, in my head. and in my laptop where i type all teh ideas that come to mind. a week ago i decided to put up a blog about it, here at wordpress. its crayz i know. but what if i suddenly get teh chance to actually pitch the show? we’ll never know. so i am just making things easier and organizing stuff, just in case. ;-)

missing something

I haven’t been in contact with friends for the past couple of weeks. Well, I have yet to get a new cell phone and most of them doesn’t seem to check their email or go on YM anyway so I am not really sure if they knew. Honestly though, it feels good.  Not having a cell phone for awhile now has given me this sense of freedom. I swear having one is like having a ver demanding lover. And a chronic compulsion.  You know when you have to reply to messages or take calls even in the most inappropriate (board meetings or classrooms) or dangerous (while shopping in greenhills or divi) of places, at the most inconvenient times (midnight, dawn) even at the most uncomfortable situations (while looking for your flipflops under your bed). The things I miss about it is the camera and the video recording feature ;-) I am one of those who love such features cos of the way it gets my creative juices flowing, and how I can preserve inspirations and memories. God knows how many photos and videos I’ve taken while onboard the LRT, or while inside the cab (one driver even thought I’m a film director, and was gracious enough to drive me through places with a “nice view”) Cell phones have become a really affordable and easy way to enhance one’s creativity. And being someone who derives inspiration from just about anything – the loss was quite a big one. But I shall get a new one in the next week or two, and I can’t wait! I am still canvassing and checking out features and reading product reviews. A 2 megapixel phone is enough (my last one was 1.3) and 64mb internal memory is good enough (I upload the files immediately, edit and convert them anyway). I will get another Sony Ericsson phone and still deciding if I will get a plan subscription or just get a prepaid SIM. And I don’t know how else I’m gonna do it but I shall take extra care so that this phone will not be stolen! I swear if there is any product like a burglar alarm that you can attach to your cell phone I am so gonna buy it!
